Do you DU? Adventures in Pocatello

Congrats to Thomas on finishing his first Duathlon!

We headed up to Pocatello, Idaho for the Endurance Festival last Friday. As you know the drive to Pocatello is very exciting! On our way we saw a dust devil. It looks pretty small in the pic but it was actually very large!

After a stop in Mallad to buy some lotto tix we made our way to Pocatello to meet up with Bob and Kamille. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the Port Neuf Valley Brewery and got a nice pint glass and t-shirt. They had some clever names for their beers!

On to race morning. We made our way over to Centennial Park where they had the transition/start/finish area. Thomas and Kamille got their gear ready for the transition for the duathlon while I also left my bike there while waiting for the race to begin. Bob was our cheerleader and photographer. Thomas and Kamille started on the bikes first then I went with my group (the 20k ride). I am not going to lie, those hills kicked my butt! I finished my ride and joined Bob to help cheer on Kamille and Thomas. Kamille finished 3rd in her event. Congrats to Kamille for finishing her first DU. Thomas took 3rd as well in his event! He did great! He looked strong, and intimidating (see his cycling jersey?). I am pretty sure this will not be his only DU. What will next year bring?

Happy Birthday Jordan! You are the big 5! We all can't wait for you to start another year of pre-school. We love you very much!

Getting caught up!

It's been a busy last couple of weeks! I don't think we have stopped other than to sleep.
I finally finished Tori's quilt...my first ever quilt! It feels good to accomplish something and to make something that will last forever. Here she be:

Thomas is training for his first duathlon for the Endurance Festival in Pocatello, Idaho in September. He is doing awesome on his bike! I'm very proud of him, he just keeps surprising us all at every race or ride he does. I have ridden my bike enough times now to feel pretty comfortable. I will be participating in the Endurance Festival doing a 20K ride as well.

Some exciting moments this last week was the Tour of Utah. We went to 4 out of the 6 stages! We got to see some of the great riders in professional cycling. The best stage is always the "Queen Stage" up to Snowbird. Some of our soccer buddies came to hang with us and they brought a shark costume to chase the riders up the steep road. I won FREE lasik eye surgery! Yes I said FREE! Lucky me. I went in for my consultation last Tuesday and everything is a go so September 3rd is the big day! Now to try and not break my glasses in the mean time!

Thomas is going to Boone, North Carolina to visit some friends and I am going on a girls trip to Oakland. We both can't wait to go on vacation! Too bad it's not together :( However, we all need a trip to ourselves once in a while. Talk to you all soon!

Scottish Festival/ Our Family Cabin

Last weekend we decided to dive in to some culture! We went to the Highland Games/Scottish Festival at Payson Memorial Park. There were booths, food, singing, dancing, games and best of all the drumming and bag pipes! I think we all enjoyed it!Thomas has Irish/Scottish heritage so next year we will come prepared with his clan name so we can find out more about his family.

On to the next event of the weekend. We enjoy spending time at our family cabin up in Fairview Lakes. Its always nice to get away from reality and get back to the basics.

There weren't as many of us an usual however we all had fun! Tori and Jordan had their cousin Amelia to play with and Bosco enjoyed the many walks they took him on. Thomas rode his bike up towards Scofield. The rest of us enjoyed sitting in the sun or riding the four wheelers.

Sunday morning we decided to go on a ride up to the "top". Once in a while Amelia and Tori would see wildflowers they wanted to pick. By the end of the ride they had about 2 dozen flowers to bring back to the cabin.

It was a short trip but fun. Hopefully this summer we will have more opportunities to enjoy the beauty and solitude! A big thank you to my grandparents who built the cabin! Love you guys!

Some Family FUN!

We decided to have a little fun outdoors this weekend with Tori and Jordan. We went up to Doughnut Falls, up Big Cottonwood Canyon. What a beautiful morning it was to be hiking!

We hope to go on more hikes all summer. Utah has some very beautiful mountains, how could you not explore them?

Back to reality

We had so much fun in Moab! I love that place. So many old memories came back and we made a few new ones too! Karina, you may remember this place:


Yes I jumped off the cliff! It was about 20 ft and I landed in about 6 ft of water. I wish it was deeper but it was so fun! The girls did it...we are awesome :)

Of course we had to go to Delicate Arch, its such a beautiful place. Too bad it was cloudy and rainy the whole time we were in Arches.

One more quick pic. As we were adventuring out and about our friends campsite, Thomas stumbled upon a hole that was perfect for a bath tub. So here he is sitting in the tub. (Side note: the day after we where there, the tub had at least 18" of water in it, that is how much it had rained!)


We were down there for a family reunion, what a great place to hold it! Nice Job mom! We will be going back next year. I hope we can make it an annual trip. Thomas and I slept in the tent while the rest of the family braved it in the trailer...yeah life is tough. Our campsite was nothing to write home about but the just the fact that we were in deed in one of the most beautiful places on Earth was good enough for me.

Anyway, it was an awesome trip! Now to have some fun with the kids this weekend! We are hoping to hike Doughnut Falls and have a picnic. Pics to come...

We're back!

We are back from some interesting trips. Lindsey went to Orlando and Thomas went to Denver all while the kids watched Bosco.

Florida was fun and we did work but we pretty much just had fun. It would have been nice to go with my family to experience all of this and not coworkers but at least I experienced right? Disneyworld is a crazy, fun and annoying place all in one. There are Mickey Mouse ears pretty much everywhere, and everything says Disney ALL over it. I see the appeal it would have for a family with smaller children (Maybe age 8-10) however I have no desire to go there unless a really good deal comes my way.
I did however get some interesting sunburn/tan lines, if only I had more time in the sun to fix them. Cocoa Beach was my favorite part of the whole trip!



Thomas had fun in Denver despite the RSL loss. Lots of bar/brew pubs to visit and good times with friends. Thomas always gets lucky in Denver and gets to meet some players. Here he is with his good friend Kramer and Nick Rimando (Starting Goal Keeper for RSL)

Coming home was a pain...the Denver airport is not a good place to be when you are in a hurry.His flight was canceled due to mechanical problems so he had to take a later flight. He ended up on Frontier with some friends so that worked out. He says he likes the city of Denver. I have yet to finally get to the city of Denver...one day!

Tori and Jordan had lots of fun with Bosco, they are excellent dog sitters! A big thanks to their mom too. Speaking of moms...its Mother's Day weekend! One of my favorites maybe because I am a mom and its my bday. Lucky me. It's always fun getting together with family to celebrate the wonderful women in our lives. Happy Mother's Day!
